The average price of industrial grade lithium carbonate in East China on January 29 was 72400 yuan/ton, which decreased by -1.36% at the end of the month compared with the beginning of the month. The average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate on January 29 was 82,200 yuan/ton, which was down – 1.2% at the end of the month compared with the beginning of the month.

From the observation of market changes, the trading price of lithium carbonate has remained stable since January 2019. There was a slight downward trend only in early January. According to the lithium carbonate manufacturers, after the end of New Year’s Day holiday, market demand has decreased significantly, and there are almost no inquiries downstream. Due to the declining trend of lithium carbonate prices in 2018, some downstream manufacturers have no plans to stock up a lot before the Spring Festival, so the overall market trading atmosphere is relatively cold. Near the end of the month, the Spring Festival holidays are approaching, and enterprises around the country will enter the state of shutdown and vacation one after another. At present, the price of industrial grade lithium carbonate in East China is between 68-76,000 yuan/ton, and that of battery grade lithium carbonate in East China is between 78-86,000 yuan/ton, which remains stable as a whole.

According to business analysts, before the Spring Festival, the lithium carbonate market as a whole showed a steady and slightly downward trend, and after the end of the Spring Festival holiday, lithium salt trading will begin to appear frequently. Considering the release of new upstream production capacity, the lithium carbonate market is expected to be shaken in the year to come.
